Red stem Refosco is the most widely cultivated vine in Friuli. It’s genetically close to Primitivo, Terrano and Veronese Corvina, which is used for Amarone wine. It has an important structure, an intense ruby colour with violet highlights, turning garnet-red with ageing, and a wild blackberry and dried plum flavour with an ever pleasing herbaceus note. The label features a portrait of Giacomo de Claricini, who lived in the 17th Century. In 2013 Refosco received an award by the Chamber of Commerce and it’s amongst the best 50 wines of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
